ipod video 5th gen 80GB HDD bootloader fails - "error reading partition table"
(1/1)
David G:
Did a search for this error, & found 17 threads, with the same issue, but no fix? I can install RB 3.13 Firmware & Fonts okay, with the RB Utility / manually. But the Bootloader Install part fails using either the RB Utility or ipodpatcher. I'm using Windows 7, did a wipe & reload of the ipod video 5th gen 80GB HDD, v.1.1.2PC, Model MB147LL, with 74.2 Gb free, using RB stable build 3.13. System Trace log attached, using RB Utility & ipod in Disk Mode. Have a fix for this?
gevaerts:
"VID: 05ac PID: 1261, USB Mass Storage Device"
That's a 6th gen (ipod classic), not a video.
David G:
Is there a build & manual process I can use to get RB working on this 6th gen ipod classic?
[Saint]:
Nothing officially sanctioned, no.
There is, however, the Freemyipod Project's emCORE bootloader/console stub.
At this stage I will remind the user that the Freemyipod/emCORE and Rockbox projects are entirely separate and Rockbox does not provide support for emCORE at all. The port is classed as 'unusable', and requires the use of third part code (emCORE) in order to function. We can and often do provide support for Rockbox running on this device, but we are not obligated to do so at all, and can decline at leisure, due to their being no official Rockbox bootloader (and, as a result, no officially supported way to boot the supplied binary).

David G:
Thank you for the info about the Freemyipod Project's emCORE bootloader/console stub.
