iPod Mini sounds different

I recently installed Rockbox on my spare 1st gen iPod Mini. Maybe I'm imagining it, but it sounds nicer/better (brighter, more midrange) than my other Mini with the stock Apple firmware.

Just wondering... has anyone else noticed something similar or am I having some kind of placebo effect?

rmma it and you will know objectively. Personally I doubt you will find the difference.
