rockbox failed install on sansa clipzip with firmware 1.17, please help

(1/1)

curranwt:
hello,

I installed rockbox a few years ago on an old sansa: install was easy enough and loved it features.

Just got a new (refurbished) sansa clipzip and have been trying unsuccessfully for hours to install rockbox. The automatic install and bootloader install procedures run without errors (auto-detect finds player on F:) and I can see that the new clpza.bin file and the .rockbox directory are copied over the the F:/ folder.

But when I "eject" and disconnect usb, the clipzip does not process a new firmware file. It just keeps on running on the OF (system settings -> INFO on the clipzip says firmware ver 1.17 ).

I have also followed all manual bootloader install steps. no errors, but bootloader does not seem to get booted on player (ver. info on player does not change )!

The OF does not have an option to toggle MSC/MTP , and I cannot get the thing to hard reboot.
No SD card is inserted.

This seems very similar to the (unresolved) problem reported by djfrodo in this forum at http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,45666.0.html

Any ideas ?  Thanks in advance

- Bill

Hey buddy,

Why dont you try updaing the OF from sansa website and then try with that later version.

saratoga:
Firmware 1.17 is for the clip sport not clip zip. Which player do you have?

curranwt:
Thanks Saratoga -- you are correct --   I didn't notice that is was a clip-sport because I ordered the clip-zip from DealFisher, and now I notice they shipped me the wrong player :-[   >:(

Alas -- now I cannot use Rockbox. But i am very grateful that you pointed out the problem to me
