ATA Error -2147483542 iPod Classic 7thGen

Ok, I downloaded an old version from this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/t/532426/ipod-classic-rockbox-its-happening/2910 (this one: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b5xbw6cp4ikfxwn/jBMeapJhsP/rockbox-with-patches-a010b7cM-130217.zip), made a backup of the .rockbox folder, deleted it and then pasted the new .rockbox folder into the ipod (from the zip). It works now!! I suppose I'm going to restore the backup and then install a newer version (one I found dates from 2014-08-03) because, well, a newer version is supposed to work better, right?

I'd be very glad if you posted a link to the version from 2014-09-22, though, just in case the new one I try doesn't work.

One more non-related thing: I have build the Database from the files that the ipod contains currently (iTunes stores the files from a same album/artist in different folders God-knows-why) and I think this is not right. Should I delete everything and then store everything the way someone is supposed to? Music > Artist > Album? (at least that's the way I have 'em in my Clip+)

So can you please do the following?
1. Upgrade to latest development build
2. Reproduce the behavior
3. Check if the error number matches the one in this thread exactly (and report if not)
4. Tell me the manufacturing year and capacity of the device in question, and where there are any hardware modifications (SD card mod, etc.)

TheSeven, did I provide enough information in my post or is there anything else you need?  I have a working Rockbox build now, so no pressure from my end, I just wanted to make sure I gave you everything you need.

I found this thread on google after having the same problem with my "fat" 6th gen 160gb iPod Classic.  So thanks for posting.  I tried the copy and paste method suggested above by hinafu, which eliminated the ata error, but now I always get an "error accessing playlist control file" and cannot use playlists at all (I tried deleting the playlist files as suggested from a google search but that didn't work).  I'm not sure if it's related to copy and pasting rather than installing a different version (I'm new to rockbox).  I just PM'd Nathan and hoping that the 09-22 version will fix this error.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

I just copy and pasted the .rockbox folder from the .zip to my iPod after deleting the .rockbox folder that was already there.  I loaded up a folder of music, shut down the iPod, turned it back on into Rockbox, and it remembered where I left off and I got no errors.  So it appears to have worked.  Thanks for the link.

Hello there!

I updated my ROCKbox yesterday night with the latest build and I started having the same issue as described in this thread.

This morning I found this post and tried with every build available to no result, so I had to download Aroldan's latest build (dating back to March) which worked wonders.

This afternoon Nathan was so kind to share with my the mentioned 20140922.rockbox and now everything works OK with an official build.

I got sick of this issue, so I reverted the ATA commit mentioned previously in this thread, added some fixes from upstream (mentioned below), and built the latest git myself. Playback seems to be faster now with less delay.

Yes, that's correct.

I installed on my iPod 6G and it works fine as far as I can tell.  I am not sure how to very the specific upstream fixes, but I have no issues.

One of them is charge detection fix, so it doesn't display "charged" whenever you plug it in, unless it is actually charged...

I don't currently have an account on the bug tracker, I'm waiting for confirmation there, but if one of you would report that the commit:
