Loading firmware file not found
« on: September 14, 2014, 12:50:07 PM »
Hi,

I installed the stable version of rockbox 3.13 to my sansa clip +.

When I turn on the player i get the error Loading firmware file not found on a rockbox screen.

I can turn the device off and then boot up in sansa more holding left and this works great.. but I would love to use rockbox.

Any ideas?

Ive tried the usual retry reboot reinstall

Thanks

That usually means you installed the bootloader but not rockbox.  Reboot into the sandisk firmware, change the USB mode to MSC, run the installer, point it at the drive letter for the player, and then install rockbox.

If you try again and it doesn't work, post a link to the log file rbutil can generate and someone can probably tell you what's going on. Use pastebin if needed for the log.

It is also highly possible that you may be installing to the μSD card (or perhaps even a system volume on the host machine) accidentally, as opposed to installing to the internal storage volume.
Auto detection of mount points with Rockbox Utility is sometimes incorrect, it always pays to make sure the auto detected mount point is correct.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Err ... with 1.4 detection became more conservative and those cases shouldn't appear anymore. If it can't detect the mountpoint unambiguously it informs the user to make the selection. However, since the selection is implemented as a dropdown list something has to be selected, and thus if the user fails to make the selection he'll get an arbitrary one.

However, since he managed to install the patched OF file the selection must be correct, as otherwise the OF wouldn't have installed it.

Post the log of Rockbox Utility, it might give some useful pointers what went wrong.
