Duplicate songs in all of database
« on: September 06, 2014, 06:56:55 AM »
Hi
I am new to Rockbox.
I have a new iPod Classic 160gb
Every album I have in the database has duplicate entries
Is there a way around this

There's several things to try.

1: Try forcing the database to initialize, by bringing up the context menu on the Database main menu icon and selecting 'Initialize Now'.

2: If 1 doesn't have the desired result, you can try clearing out the (potentially corrupt) database files manually. These files all have the .tcd extension, and are located at /.rockbox/*.tcd
(emCORE even offers an option to clear the Rockbox Database files from its Tools menu)

3: If neither of the above works, and after either re-initializing the database and/or manually clearing and regenerating the database you still have duplicate entries, try verifying the paths on the duplicated entries to see if they are indeed identical.
It may be the case that there are files sitting in a trashcan folder from your host OS.

If the paths for duplicated entries in the database are indeed identical, by this point, it would most certainly pay to check the file system for errors, but we shall cross that bridge if we are forced to come to it.

Keep us posted.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Thank you[Saint]
Sorry for the late reply
I have been trying all you suggested
I have my songs in a file which is working correctly as long as I don't do anything with Database
I have manually deleted all TCD files but as soon as initialize the Database they come back with all the duplicates.
So it appears that if I just work with Files rather than database I'm fine
