Help installing Rockbox Windows 8/Sansa Clip +

Firstly, sorry if this has been posted, but a google search and forum search hasn't revealed any good results.

I can't seem to properly install rockbox:

When I execute the installer, the first picture pops up
Clicking past the dialogue box brings me to the second box, where the pull down menu for drives displays nothing. Autodetect brings up the third picture, and the installer crashes every time.

Could this be related to my player not being assigned a disk letter in windows 8 and if so, is there a fast way I can fix it?

Set the player to MSC instead of MTP
