iRiver H3xx stuff I've found out
« on: August 24, 2014, 03:49:54 AM »
Hi everyone. I'm not sure if this stuff has been covered by anyone yet, as I'm new around here, but I thought I'd note down some stuff I've found by tinkering with my H340 over the past few days.

-It's possible to wire a second mic internally for stereo (see recording forum)

-The CF mod noise sometimes heard as interference during recording can be improved by adding additional filter caps between the power and ground rail. I have opted for a small 47uf electrolytic and 33uf tantalum. A smaller value ceramic capacitor could also help. They're the only ones I could find around the house..

-According to the datasheet of the Li-ion charger IC, the maximum capacity that can be charged is 2000mah. Anything beyond that might not be used. I imagine it would be similar for other iRiver models.

Hope that helps someone. I've really missed this thing. I just did a quick comparison with flat EQs through an identical 320kbps MP3 tune on my imac(itunes). The lows sound less spongy on the wee brick. Very happy!  8)

Adding a 100nf ceramic cap + shielded mic wires took out most of the leftover interference  :)
