Corrupted Clip Zip installation & whole drive

(1/2) > >>

dancedar:
Has anyone experienced an RB  installation completely destroying an internal drive of a Clip Zip?
It was working fine yesterday and I plugged in using the same cable to the same port as always and the whole internal drive is corrupt. I've 1900 0-byte files named 'µ', tons of folders like 'µOCKBO~2' and 'µELCOM~1', inside which are more folders like '.¡Ý3û¢:=.¥_╩', with equally-silly filenames with creation dates ranging from 1981 to 2095, like 'Ë£¾£¾£Ø.Ñ4' which is 8.5gb...clearly it's not as there's tons of similarly-sized files.

I assume I can't recover any of the 3gb of mp3/mp4s/audible files I had on it and am best to just wipe and reinstall RB. Would there be a log of any use for this?

You've probably lost everything... Including any logs that might have been of use ::), though Rockbox doesn't generate any, AFAIK.

Maybe you forgot to eject before unplugging?
Good luck!  ;)

Thanks. I didn't not-eject, it happened on connect. Worst thing is, I have to use that god-awful Audible software again which looks like it's stuck in 1998!

Well... Good luck and have fun ;)
