OF of Clip+ not bootable: Am I lost?
« on: December 30, 2012, 07:59:38 AM »
Hi,

I've installed a Rockbox version a few months ago. Now I realized, it does not boot into OF (LEFT + Power on). It does a bit; first the flower symbol appears for very long time (2 Minutes) and then the Settings screen appears; but no reaction on any key press. In order to turn it off, I have to hold power for a very long time.

Without Original Firmware, I am not able to get the recordings from the internal flash memory. Because with rockbox firmware, no file transfer is possible at all, I think that is normal.

I don't see any chance to get the files from flash memory, also I see no possibility to transfer any files onto the clip+. No more Rockbox updates...

Do you see a possibility?

TIA
Michael

USB actually should work with rockbox, although for some people it is not entirely stable.

Have you made sure you are using latest Release = 3.12 ? I had problems with 3.11.

For me using Release 3.12 and WinXP : from time to time Clip+ switches to USB mode in rockbox but does not show up on computer. => usually this will fix it :

Disconnect USB => turn player off => Connect USB & wait = player starts, goes in USB mode and shows up on computer.

That worked with 3 Clip+ on 2 laptops, both running WinXP. If you don't use XP, it may make a difference. Otherwise check the cable and the plug (firmly plugged ? swap ports)

No more tips, hope this helps.

HI .

I don't want to create another thread because it seems to be the same problem to me .

First i want to thank all dev and people who work on this amazing project .
I tried to RTM but nothing seems to be helpfull to me for this problem .
I'm on Linux and the Rockbox Utility doesn't recognize my device Sansa Clip +

As the original authors of this thread asked :
My problem is  :

1= I can't start the Original firmware (even by connecting the device by usb or holding left switching on )
2= I can't reinitialize the device by holding poweroff for many seconds .
3= I can't transfer anythng by usb
4= Rockbox still works and lauch properly

I want to upgrade the version of Rockbox my current version is 3.8

Could someone help me to doing this .
I ve this MP3 player since long time and travell all over the world with it .
I do really like it and Rockbox too as a Linuxer !

Thank you and excuse my english .

You could copy an updated rockbox build over via SD and try to get USB working.  Once it was working you could try to fix the file system if thats whats preventing the sandisk firmware from running.

Hi.
I'm facing with the same problem here.
In my case, after pressing power+left button nothing happens (no flower icon is shown), the player freezes and I have to reset it by pressing the power button for few seconds.
Windows shows there are no errors to fix in the file system.
I'm running 3.13 build.
Thanks in advance.
