Equalizer adjustments

Can you help me configure the equalizer for the best sound? With my PC I always set it in V shape, especially to make the sound more vivid, with more highs. Apart from using the equalizer, do you also adjust the bass and treble settings or is it not necessary?

saratoga:
Use EQ or bass/treble, usually not both.

The correct settings depend on you headphones and basically nothing else.
