Need purchasing advice re which device most suitable for a project.

Hello,

I do not have a device, I will need to purchase several devices as part of an art installation. It seems like Rockbox would be the solution I'm looking for. This is what I need to happen:

1. The device will be connected to a solar charger 24/7
2. While on, it will loop a sound file
3. The power will be cut through interaction
4. When the power is re-connected, after whatever length of time, the device needs to automatically start playing, even if it was off.

From the "playback" forum I understood that using Rockbox's "car adapter mode" combined with "resume on startup" features would do what I need (the device will be connected to a solar charger and a photocell "switch" so when it is dark (night/someone covers the photocell) the power supply will be cut from the player and it will stop playing.)

Now I need to find the most suitable device, I assume one that has an on/off switch instead of button, but I'm not exactly sure. I'm hoping to spend not much more than 50 Euros per device (I will need several).

It would be great to get recommendations on what to buy from experienced users.

Thank you!

A sansa clip player (plus, zip) would work.  I use them for something very similar in my car.

Alternatively, you might consider a raspberry pi if you want the ability to script more complex features.

Sport? I suspect you mean plus or zip, *not* sport.

MoBe:
Thank you both, looking into the electrical specs and prices.

saratoga:
Yes, Zip.  I meant to say NOT sport.
