Database initialiation hangs, no log file [iPod 5G]

I'm trying to figure out why my database initialization fails.  It scans and finds all the tracks, but hangs on "committing database".

I tried a complete uninstall & reinstall and it didn't solve the problem.  I figure there is a file that is causing the process to hang.  I have enabled logging, but after a failed database attempt, I can't find a log file anywhere in the .rockbox directory.

I'd like to know if anyone has an idea why the database fails, or at least where I can find the log file (filename/directory).  Thanks

The metadata.log file is actually written into the root of your player, not the .rockbox folder.

Thanks, but even though I have enabled the logging, there is no metadata folder in any directory.
