Installation / Removal > Rockbox Utility
Successful install onto Clip Zip, but now I can't eject the player
(1/1)
Jackieflash:
So it took a lot of fiddling, but I finally found a way to install Rockbox via getting a newer bin file from Sandisk. Had to update their firmware before putting that bin file into the utility, and once I did that, the install was no problem.
However....Now it's been about 15 minutes since I got the "Install successful" message, and I can't eject the player from my computer. I've tried the tray eject window, the "eject" button in the Utility, and the device manager, and they all say that files are in use and it can't be removed. Should it take that long to finish transferring? I can see on the player that rockbox is there...but what could the problem be? I'm nervous to just take it out.
Help!

That message is just windows telling you that you have a folder open or some program on your PC accessing the player. Its not really related to rockbox, but if you are concerned, close everything and it will probably let you eject the player. Otherwise you probably have some misbehaving software on your PC and will have to just remove it.

I gathered all my courage and just went ahead and removed the player in spite of Windows dire message. The player didn't reboot on its own, I had to force that too, but once it installed the new firmware....HOOORAY! All signs of the previous glitch are gone! I can forward and rewind like a bawss. And I've already tweaked the bass and treble and am looking forward to deleting most of the music my younger son installed (our tastes vary widely in some genres!). The print is super-tiny for these aging eyes, but still - totally worth the change.
