Trouble with rockbox
« on: July 13, 2014, 07:53:46 AM »
I have an Ipod video and I've installed rockbox a week ago. I've been using it until I realised I had problems with my HDD, after failing with fixing it my Ipod started showing my this: "no partition found, connect usb and fix it." So in the boot menu I went to tools - "reformat data partition". After rebooting it said "Ipod failed, trying fallback image", and after that - "no .rockbox directory, instalation incomplete". Then he loads an old version of rockbox (I suppose).
The worst is that when i connect it to my PC (windows 7) the Ipod shows a usb sign but the PC doesn't react. I tried using the rockbox utility but it kept saying "mountpoint unknown or invalid".
Please help!!!

Firstly, that's an iPod Classic, not an iPod Video, the two are similar bit differ greatly.

This means you're running a third party, unsupported bootloader (emCORE), and an unsupported Rockbox binary.

Secondly, if your disk is damaged in such a way that your host OS refuses to mount it, even after an attempted recovery from within emCORE, from the fallback image, it is almost a certainty that nothing short of a new disk is going to fix it.
The guys over at Freemyipod have a tool that can recover badly damaged, yet still functional, disks - but it can take months (yep, months, really) to run a single pass of this tool, and several passes may be required.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Well that's Ipod videos HDD in a Ipod classic's case :D
Yeah, I think buying a new Hdd or even a new player is the only way out.
Thanks!)
