Playing Videos.
« on: May 26, 2014, 12:38:15 PM »
I am trying to play videos from a memory card on the Fuze+.  And am using Rock Box.

I currently have 3 .mpg files on the memory card.  I was able to play one of them once yesterday, but can't play any of them today.

I tried going to "Open With" and selecting the file, but it still doesn't work.

I keep getting "unsupported format".

I notice when I go to the file properties menu in Rock Box, the time for the files is messed up.  For example, it thinks a 3 min video is 23 minutes.  The time is messed up for all of the video files.

I can play these on various Windows media players.

I recommend to read this: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/PluginMpegplayer

And I suggest WinFF to convert your videos.

Greetings,

Thanks.

I now tried using WinFF to encode a video at 320x240, and 320x176. None of them work.

Do I need to specify a certain bitrate or data rate?

For the preset, I tried the "RB Apple Video Ipod Video Widescreen", as well as RB Sandisk Sansa e200 Widescreen".

Is there any manual setting or preset you recommend?  Any specific resolution, bit rate, or data rate?

Here's one of the settings I've tried.

You must transcode to match the target device's resolution. Your device's resolution is neither 320x240, nor 320x176, so attempting to play media in that resolution is expected to fail.

Your device (Fuze+) resolution is 240x320, so this is the resolution you must use.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
