Fuze+ Charging

(1/2) > >>

Recently bought a Fuze+ and installed Rockbox.  LOVE BOTH!  and it does appear very stable to me...

My question is how to force charging w/o powering on?  As soon as USB cable is plugged in, it powers up, which consumes battery and not sure when it is actually charged or ready to use.

Is this normal? or can it be like a cell phone charging (charged w/o being powered)?

Thanks.

Its not possible to charge modern devices without powering them up. Charging requires CPU control.

Your phone is powered up and running a bootloader while charging most likely.

Hmmmm...I guess the iPod Classic series doesn't really fit as "modern" any more, does it?

A number of cellular phones would like to argue the claim, however.

The point still stands that the Fuze+ can't, but stating all "modern devices" are not able to is definitely arguable.

I haven't used the 6G, but on my iPod 3G it would always power up on USB insert to charge.  I don't think it was possible to be powered off while charging.

Thanks for the clarification; what would be considered best practice to conserve/maintain battery life?  How long should charge take?  Is there a setting to 'auto power off' when fully charged, because it appears to charge, consume battery & repeat....if left on the charger.

Thanks.

Bill
