Play Next Shuffled item in Playlist menu

(1/1)

Hort:
Hello everyone!
I often use Play Next option from Playlist menu and noticed that I miss Play Next Shuffled here very much.
Let me explain in details:
I'm listening to shuffled tracks of a Band #1. After some time I want to listen to Band #2 (shuffled too). I'm going through file manager and going to play the directory. I use Playlist menu -> Play Next. But songs are no shuffled! I'm going to Quick Screen. Shuffled option is turned on (previous playlist was shuffled). So I have to turn it off. Apply changes (off course nothing is changed). Than I have to go to Quick Screen again -> turn Shuffled option on and apply changes.
Play Next Shuffled item in the Playlist menu should solve this completely. Is it possible to add such option?

Thanks!

[Saint]:
Yes, this is possible.

I can't say that it will happen, but it is definitely possible.

Perhaps in the meantime you could simply make use of the "Reshuffle" option presented to you from the while playing screen context menu. To be clear, this is the menu presented to you in the while playing screen when holding select. Select the 'Playlist' option, and then 'Reshuffle'.

This does not rely on shuffle being enabled, so you can simply insert additional tracks into the playlist and then reshuffle it at your leisure.

Thanks for the reply. It's sadly that I cannot add "Reshuffle" to the "Quick Screen"  :(
By the way, is there any place to officially propose a feature for Rockbox (Play Next Shuffled item)?

[Saint]:
There is a Features Ideas sub-forum, it used to be called "Feature Requests" once upon a time, many moons ago, but it was renamed as it gave users the mistaken impression that if they requested a feature that something would be done about it when in fact this is very far from the case.

Even if a feature idea is remarkably clever, it still takes someone else to implement it, and for them to do so not only do they also need to agree that the idea has merit, they also need to have the time and skill to implement it.

This doesn't gel terribly well with the way Rockbox developers work. Developers on this project work on what they want to work on, when or if they want to work on it, so often the person who is the prime candidate to implement a new feature is the one who suggested it.

Were you to present a suitable patch that implemented this feature, it would almost certainly be included, but be aware that if you do not you may potentially be waiting indefinitely.

I don't mean this to sound the way it may indeed sound. I know it seems grim.
Simply put, I don't want to instil any false hope in you.
