Error screen when loading music
« on: May 17, 2014, 10:55:30 PM »
i get this error screen when i load up Rockbox (Version: cb205c8-140515) on my Sansa e250 v1 when i go to load a music file...

data abort at 400078DC (0)
pc:400078DC sp:4000A838
bt end

it seems to do that on any MP3 music file i load and it worked fine on the previous Rockbox i was using which is... Version: 0cd03c2-140424

it seems pretty consistent to as i swapped back and forth between those two builds and the April 24th 2014 build works like normal and the current dev build (i.e. May 15th 2014) gives that error code every single time i try to load up some music and freezes the player.

EDIT: also, i think i just noticed when i go to the 'System > Rockbox Info' section the buffer appears to be 0 on the build that fails (5-15-14) but seems normal on the 4-24-14 build which currently shows 27.8MB

If Rockbox dies before ever commencing playback, a 0 size audio buffer would be entirely expected.

Obviously the build failing to play audio is not to be expected, but the lack of audio buffer at that point is.

You would see exactly the same behaviour on the functional build were you to check this value before commencing playback.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Yeah, my mistake on the whole buffer thing as you are right as when i first boot up on the working build it does show 0KB but once i play a MP3 briefly it shows 27.8MB. so ill probably edit out the buffer comment above but the rest of my question still appears to be a issue though as this is the first time that's happened for me since i been using Rockbox which has been since i first got the player back in around June 2008.
