Trouble Uploading Songs To Sansa Player With Rockbox
« on: May 13, 2014, 01:19:36 PM »
Hello All

I have installed ROCKBOX onto my Sansa player C250. All went well with automatic installation, but I can not add music files to the removable card. In WINDOWS I can see the SANSA icon that shows the drives: SANSA and REMOVABLE DRIVE. When I do a DRAG AND DROP trying to transfer songs onto the REMOVABLE card the progress bar appears as though the songs are transferring and just before it reaches completion the transfer stops and just hangs there never completing. Then it appears to crash and the only way to get it going again is to turn the player off, disconnect from USB cord and then restart. I checked the drive by right clicking on it and clicking on properties and it shows the drive and gigabyte capacity, but again if I try transferring songs, it crashes and the drive capacity goes to ZERO. I will then have to unplug, turn off player, turn back on, plug in go back to WINDOWS and start again only for the same to happen again. I tried reinstalling rockbox in case something went wrong during installation, but i am experiencing the same problem. Is there some solution for this? Please help..

Can you add files to the card in the Sandisk firmware?

YES, while I had the SANSA software as the primary, I could add music to the removable card and the payers internal memory.

I guess as a work around you could use the sandisk firmware to add music to the SD card.

Better probably would be to use a separate USB card reader adapter.  They are usually way faster than the player, anyway; and they're cheap.

Thanks for the help everyone, I found out that the card itself was/is defective. While music would appear on the card using the SANSA software, it would not stay. Somehow within an hour at best whatever was saved to the card would disappear. With ROCKBOX, it would appear as though the music was saved, but the progress bar would reach the end and just hang there indefinitely or if it finished the music title/folder would be on the card, but not the music.

In anycase I took the card back and since what I wanted was out of stock, I will have to wait until it is back in stock to get another

Thanks again for all of your help, I will let you know once the new card comes whether there are any problem, which i don't think there will be...
