Sansa Clip+ Won't Turn On

<< < (2/2)

saratoga:
If neither works the flash memory or hardware is probably screwed up. I would try and get either firmware to boot and see if you can reflash the firmware. If not its probably dead.

Echo:
Well nothing can get get it to response to anything so I guess it really is dead.
The device is less than a year old, is this normal?

steak:
it may well be too late but...

My Clip+ is way older than yours and works fine.

What follows might not match your problem but might be useful to others. I am not even sure of what I am describing as it relates to a random problem I have not experienced for a long time.

Basically because I use different microSD cards I probably did the following wrong operation :

1- Hotswaping microSD while the player was reading it.
Result = player crash then possibly freezing
Solution = turn player off by pressing LONG ENOUGH (much longer than normal, maybe 30 sec)
Note hotswaping works when the player is reading a track on hardware flash memory BUT PROBABLY NOT RECOMMENDED

2- Turn off player while reading a track on microSD. Swaping microSD with player off. Turning it back on with start screen set to Resume Playback
Result = probably just fine but maybe a crash
I know I've done it a few times by mistake but since I don't know how safe it is, I won't try.

Echo:
Hi,
Thanks for your reply, but as you said it is not relevant to my problem.
I never took out my microSD of the player while it it was on, and the problem didn't happen close to a time I swapped cards.
Other than that, with my experience with a number of flash drives types, it is highly un-recommended to remove a flash drive from a device while operating. Even if it is not reading or writing to a flash drive, a device may be operating some functions on the flash for maintenance (file system, cash writebacks, ware leveling, etc).

I think it probably an hardwere damage to the battery or memory, I hope I can get the warranty to replace it.

Thanks anyway
