default setting for recording

Hello everyone, welcome to my first post!  I hope it's a good one!   

What are the default recording settings regarding Volume and Gain?
I realized the hard way (after recording something on too low a level) that I accidentally messed with these settings without realizing it.

Also, what's the difference between Volume and Gain?

I'm using a Clip+.

You can bring up the context menu on any setting and it will present the option to reset it to its default value.
