Bass and Treble settings in Sound Settings

I'm interested in how exactly this works, for example which frequencies get lowered when you lower Bass and how is it different than using EQ.

Its similar to the eq but on some devices its implemented in hardware (if they have a hardware bass treble feature). In most its a software filter made to match a typical bass or treble knob.

I would like ts see a wider adjustable EQ spectrum added to Rockbox if possible. Sometime I would like to boost certain bass or treble or mid frequencies, when  particular music is lacking. As it stands trying to increase/decrease Bass makes all of the bass frequencies increase/decrease which can muddle or remove the power from the music...so the same with Treble.

Any chance of future expansion of the EQ settings range?
