Thank you for the advice. this makes sense from what is happening. I now need to sort out updating using the rockchip utility. my nromrla pc is win 7 64 bit and it does not work on this. I have tried on a an xp 32 bit pc however struggle to install the usb driver.

This has worked. Once I worked out how to set up the USB drivers for my pc, I have been able to re flash it and the rockbox files work correctly.

I had wrongly assumed that when I asked the manafacure to install the most recent version of rockbox, that this would happen.
