I generally keep my player set to Shuffle: Yes and Repeat: Off. I have my music roughly categorized (via tagging) into four broad genres. Typically, I'll go into Database -> Genre, select the genre I want, and then select <All tracks>... Then it does it's "Searching..." thing for a couple seconds and pulls up a list of (I presume *all* of the) songs tagged under that genre name... I then just hit the Select button and then it prompts me to Erase dynamic playlist, I hit Select for yes, and then it does it's "Searching..." thing again, counting backward as I presume it's building the new playlist by randomizing all 4,000 tracks... And then it starts playing...
But lately I've been noticing that it seemed like an occasional song would repeat after a while... At first I thought I was just imagining it, or that maybe I had reshuffled the playlist since I listened to it last.... But then a few times very recently it happened where I was *certain* that it had repeated a track after it had played a mere 10 or 20 songs before. So I viewed the current playlist, scrolled back, and, lo and behold, there was the song, listed twice in the same playlist!
I don't have any duplicates of song files on the player, there is only one copy of each song on it. Isn't it supposed to completely shuffle a selected playlist without throwing in random repeats? I don't understand why this is happening... Assuming that I want to have a truly randomized playlist without random repeated songs, am I doing something wrong?
