iRiver H!) 5GB red
« on: April 15, 2014, 05:06:13 PM »
Greetings,
I am running Windows XP Home Ed. Ver 2002 SVP 3 on a Dell Latitude X1 Processor 1.10GHz 789 MHz 1.24GB RAM

My iRiver H10 got stuck on the boot up screen and wouldn 't go to the menu. I searched for the original software on-line but couldn't find it. I decided to install Rockbox and the installation went well. I can see the original files in the Rockbox menu/database. However, when connected to my PC I can't see those files. When I click on the Music folder , which contains the original music files,an error message says the file is not accessable and is corrupted and unreadable. Again those files are playable from the Rockbox UI. The same is true for the Recordings sub-folders. I
tried to delete the Music folder, to clear up space on the player, but it would not
delete. I would like to recover the original music, but if not I need the space for my
own files. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Check the filesystem for errors.

I'm not sure what you mean. How do I check the filesystem for error?
Thanks

open a command and enter
chkdsk /f *letter of your iriver's drive*:
hit enter, and wait.
bad sectors happens, especially on not so young players like that, also i'm gonna consider a new thread on the compatibility of modern, flash-based CF cards and H10's, i spotted some nice 64gb CFs on eBay for about fifty bucks.
