Advice for ipod 5g (Ipod classic 120gb)
« on: April 10, 2014, 06:21:11 PM »
Ok I have windows 7 64x and and Ipod classic 120gb.

 I followed this tutorial:
http://www.freemyipod.org/wiki/EmCORE_Installation/iPodClassic/DFUiTunes
up until where it says "Eject that volume". I ejected my Ipod via Windows Explorer right click menu and the Ipod's screen has been stuck on "Booting UBI file.." for 2 hours. Al I want to know is whether this is normal and I'm just being impatient or whether something has gone wrong(and if so what I can do not to turn my Ipod into a brick).

Thanks in advance

1) Ipod 5g IS NOT THE SAME AS Ipod classic 120gb. You should really double check which version you actually have.
2) IF this is classic, it is basically unbrickable. The worst what can happen is that you will need to restore it with Itunes to recover pristine state.
3) If you need help I strongly advice you to join our IRC channel and speak with TheSeven or Saint.

It is most definitely not an iPod 5G.

That much is certain, there's absolutely no way that the installation could get this far if it were. So, we can put that one to bed, its definitely a Classic (read: 6/7G).

Now, for the problem:

If I were to speculate I would guess that you are using the system tray icon to eject the device.

Don't.

Its not really worth getting into /why/ this is an issue, and I'm not even terribly sure you'd care even if I did, so lets make this short. Don't use the system tray "safely eject" icon, instead eject the volume via right clicking from Explorer or My Computer.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
