Fuze+ buttons do not respond clearly, menu spazzes out, moves around randomly.

Anybody else have this problem?

My Fuze+ with Rock box doesn't respond when I touch the touch pad to move it in a direction or to select. When it does respond, it moves down then shoots back up to the top of the menu. It selects things on it's own and just generally does not respond to what I do. Restarting it does temporarily fix the problem, but only for the next 40 seconds.

The Fuze+ is newer and it worked when I first installed Rock box, but started immediately after I updated it. Does this sound like a firmware problem, as it is labeled unstable, or more of the Fuze+ itself?

Well, the touchpad on Fuze+ is sort of ..... usable, but more or less painfuly. Probably depends piece to piece or person to person.
I think gestures are not implemented in RB for Fuze+. That means that one should tap/hold at one of nine positions.

If you want down, you should touch at outer (bottom) part. Say below the silver line.

And the touchpad is very sensitive, so it may think you touched even if your finger is close to. So, the key to success is to keep fingers well away and use fingers with speed of light and precision of neuro-surgeon.

It is also possible to set the sensitivity of touchpad somewhere in RB menu. I do not know where.

I use Fuze+ for 2 years and I have not became insane so far. It is a good player, but I wouldn't buy it to my grandma or someone with Parkinson. Or anyone with any sign of clumsiness. :-)

I thank RB developer team for their excellent job to make Fuze+ well usable. OF was just a bad joke if one had 16+GB of music.

The touchpad can go crazy if it is not absolutely clean and dry.  It is remarkably over sensitive to moisture, fingerprints, being splattered by your sandwich filling or pizza topping and so on.  When mine goes nuts I lock the screen and give the device a wipe (tongue first, then cloth) and it returns to normal.  If you know someone with OCD it could make a very welcome gift for them, keeping them constantly occupied while usefully enhancing your reputation as a sensitive and caring person.

You, dear sir and/or madam, just won the Internet for today. Well done.

Thank you for The Internet, it is working great but my PictureFlow plug-in crashed my Fuze+ after the 250000th jpeg.  Would this be a bug?

btw it's "sir" Monday morning through Saturday afternoon and "madam" at weekends or when I am making a little extra money on my own time (sorry but it's by appointment only).
