i have a question about putting music on a player & micro SD card

I have a SanDisk Sansa Clip+ & a 16GB class 4 Micro SD Card & my question is when you put more music on either the player or the card to have the new music do you have to boot it up in the Sansa Firmware for it detect the new music Yes or No
