Clip Zip problems with being recognized by computer; Zip stuck now.
« on: March 10, 2014, 04:38:38 PM »
Hello, I have a Sansa Clip Zip (4gb) with the newest filmware updated.
Upon installing Rockbox just now, when the installer said everything is finished, I clicked the 'eject' button and immediately disconnected the usb to my Clip Zip.
The thing froze for a while, but I managed to reset it by holding down the power button.

Rockbox seemed to work fine on my Zip, but when I plugged the USB into the computer, it read 'undefined instruction' on the small screen, and my computer couldn't bring up the drive letters. The Rockbox installer also couldn't detect.

And when I disconnected the usb, there was mention of 'PANIC' mode 0 on the small screen.

I booted up the device with the Sansa OS and let it load and refresh the media, and plugged the USB back into the comp.
The Zip immediately froze, and after a while, Rockbox re-appeared somehow, and the screen is stuck at the 'Boot 4.0' thing.

I somehow cannot reboot the device even after holding down the power button for half a minute.

Can someone advise me what to do from here?
I want to uninstall Rockbox, and then maybe reinstall it.
But the Zip is currently stuck and my computer can't even USB-access it.

Much thanks in advance.

Right now, I can get the Zip to work again.
But the USB problems still persist, and I still want to uninstall / reinstall Rockbox.
Any kind soul please advise? Thank you.

There have been a lot of USB fixes recently, try a daily build instead of 3.13.

You can get into USB mode I think by having the device off and holding 'select' while plugging it into USB.

When you say you have the 'newest firmware', I'm assuming you mean the latest 'release'?

Same with me with my Sandisk Clip+. Used both Rockbox 3.13 and developer version and still getting that mount message.

Sorry for reviving an old (dead) thread, but I'm having exactly the same problem described by "intricationz" with my "Clip Zip" and Rockbox 3.13.
Just wanted to check if anyone here has found a solution yet?
Did installing a daily build change anything?

Thanks in advance :)

You could try a newer build, or just use the Sandisk firmware for USB.
