Sansa Clip+ Freezes Whenever Turned On or Plugged Into USB
« on: March 09, 2014, 12:53:53 AM »
I've been using Rockbox on my Sansa Clip+ for a while now and while it freezes occasionally, it's never been this bad.

95% of the time when I turn it on, it freezes, either on the startup image, an error image, or a blank screen.

If I plug it into any USB port, it also freezes and the computer doesn't recognize it. Sometimes the computer gives me the option of formatting it. When I do that it says it couldn't complete the format.

Once in a while I can successfully boot it without freezing (it still freezes if I plug it into a USB port), but I'm not sure what I can do in the settings that could fix this problem. If I could just get it to plug into the computer correctly, I could reinstall Rockbox and hopefully fix the problem.

Additional info:
-I'm using the 4.0 firmware.
-I can sometimes get it to boot successfully in the original Sansa Clip+ menu. I went into the settings there and selected format, but it seems to be frozen on the format process.
-I've been using a 64GB micro SD card to hold all my music. The same problem happens whether the disc is in it or not.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If both firmwares rarely boot its probably just broken hardware.

I just updated to the build from yesterday and while I haven't had any crashing problems during use, I can barely get a connection through USB anymore. I have to reboot around 20 times before I get a connection. The most common failure results include:

1.) A white screen with "Undefined instru" (around 50% of the time).
2.) The proper connection screen, but the drives in Computer are grayed out and give "Please insert a disk into Removable Disk" (around 40% of the time).
3.) A white screen with: (around 10% of the time)
Undefined instru
pc:0000003C sp:2
bt end

I don't remember what my previous build version was, but I ran with it for a few months and it was much more stable through the USB connection. I only had to reboot around less than 10% of the times I connected.
