Sansa Zip database doesn't list files in the micro SD card
(1/1)

I have installed Rockbox 3.13 on my Sansa Zip (8 gb). I have around 1000 mp3 files in my memory card (transcend,32 gb). All the mp3 are tagged properly with Artist, Album and Composer information. Note that I have folder in the card "Music" and all my mp3 are inside that folder. I also have a handful of mp3's in the device memory
My card shows from File menu as <microSD1> and I can browse and select songs from there.
However, when I browse the Database -> Artist/Album/Composer tabs, I see only mp3's from the device memory. I can't find a single mp3 from the card. Any idea why is it happening? Is there a way to tell Rockbox to update/build the mp3 database from the memory card?

From the main menu, long click on "database" you will get a context menu for the database option. These include rebuilding the database, updating the database and an option to choose where the database will scan. My device is configured to scan "/"
If auto update is enabled and you are in the habit of powering up your device with no SD card inserted it is possible that database removed all entries from the SD card upon boot. Once you re-insert the SD card you need to "update" again.
There is also a file that can be placed in any directory entitled "database.ignore". The presence of this file will prevent database from cataloguing the files in that location. It's not likely but ensure you don't have one of these files on your SD card.

Long clicking the Database menu helped ... I can browse my files on car now. A bit surprising that it doesn't happen automatically ... and no I do not usually start my device without a card in ... Thanks for the info of course!
