Clip+ : EQ settings are odd
« on: March 05, 2014, 09:48:23 PM »
Hello!
I just bought a new Sansa Clip+ and installied Rockbox.
Usually i just load the Rock preset in the eq, since it fits 90% of my music.
But the rock preset sounds very odd, it has no bass and treble at all.
All other presets sound OK, also, the rock preset from the stock firmware sounds good too!
Is there a simple way to fix this?
I don't want to make the settings by hand, because i don't have enough experience for this.

I think in current versions of rockbox we do not even provide presets as none have been made that are appropriate for our EQ.

But there are 28 settings in the /.rockbox/eqs folder.
And i did nothing but installing rockbox  with the automatic installer.

You can try and use the old presets if you want but I don't know how appropriate they are for the new eq. That's why they were removed from newer builds.

Looks like they where not removed properly...  ???
My Clip+ is brandnew and i installed Rockbox just yesterday with the autoinstaller.
But still i got presets pre-installed. And i didnt copy anything by hand.

Maybe someone is so nice and posts a little Rock preset for me?  :-*

You probably installed 3.13, which is a year old at this point.

In addition to that installing Rockbox is just unzipping to the player.  As a result files of the same name will be updated and new files added, but old files will not be removed.  Thus the presets were properly removed from new builds, but will still be present on your player from an old build unless you remove them.

This is because the presets exist *on your device*, we can remove them from the binary...but, if they still exist on your device, well, this happens.
If you were to check the archive you would find the presets don't exist there. This is caused by leftovers on your device that we can't remove.

(well, for what its worth, we could remove orphaned files on upgrade but its not particularly simple to achieve - there's no simple way to tell if you created the files or if they shipped with the binary)

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
