Thanks for bring my attention and glad to know that the MOD will work with 480gb drives too, though I am not expecting the half battery life, we are really hitting a hardware limit here because of the high peak current draw of mSATA drive. On average my crucial m500 240GB and adapter only draws 250mA during disk activities, ie, database initialization.

I did enable the UDMA4 & 80MHZ boosting in the patch, it actually improves battery life even on normal 30GB HDD ipod, the extra power consumption by the CPU boosting is much less compare to the energy spend on longer disk I/O poll & disk idling on a slower CPU clock.

I considering myself lucky in being able to tune a few thing for the iPod ata driver to make it work. However, I did that without having any documentation about the portal player 502x chip, ie. register settings about the timing, so pretty much I was just guessing while I was working on it. Wondering if anyone still have the portal player datasheet from the old day?

saratoga:
No datasheet for portal player hardware has ever been found.

Beyondwind, welcome to rockbox and thank you for your very big contribution to our ipods.

what do you think about this drive

http://www.wintecind.com/oem/SSD/ZIF_PATA/EWS800.html

it is already a zif and only drains 1.5 watts while your m500 drains 3 watts.
i cant find where to buy this drive yet but im just asking so i know if i should even look for it or not.

Hi, new user here.  Does anyone have a copy of this rockbox mod they could upload?  I've been trying for weeks to get my 480GB drive working with my iPod 5.5G and this seems to be the solution but the download link appears to be down.
