Sansa Clip Zip and 32GB microSDHC, Not detecting ALL files on microsd

<< < (2/2)

sebelius:
I have now discovered that after reaching 2gb of space occupancy on the micro SDHC card, the files that are added from there on will not be accessible through Rockbox.
What does this sound like to you? Any hunch on why Rockbox won't read anymore than 2gb of files on a 32gb micro SDHC card? They don't show in the database and neither in the directory tree.

Maybe there's some sort of properties of the file system that i need to add/change? Though the micro SDHC card is formatted to FAT32.
I would be eternally grateful if someone would contribute a possible solution to this problem.

saratoga:
Counterfeit card?  Do these files actually play on a PC?

sebelius:
The files plays on a PC.
I don't think it's a counterfeit because i can mount it and access all files and store up to 32gb on it (on my gnu/linux machine).

sebelius:
And the problem isn't that the files don't play. It's that they don't show up.

Julian67:
Like saratoga suggested this looks like all the symptoms of a faulty/counterfeit card.  You say you can "access all files" but actually on a 32GB card it would take an enormous amount of time to check that each audio file was playable.  Being able to see the file name in a directory tree is no indication that the file on the SD card contains the same data as the same file on your PC, or that it contains any data at all.

Anyway you mention you run a GNU/Linux system so this is really easy to check.  This involves losing all the data on your SD card but as it likely only contains 2GB of data, some of which is corrupt, and you have the originals elsewhere this will be no great loss.  Use a card reader to attach the card to your PC, no need to mount it.  Run GParted (the partition tool).   Write a new msdos partition table to the SD card and then create a FAT32 file system and let GParted take care of everything.  Then shutdown GParted, physically remove the card and reattach it and mount it.  I feel reasonably confident that you will find it is a 2GB card after all.  If so then welcome to the club.  This club's membership consists of about a gazillion people who thought they were saving $5 but who ended up with a defective piece of crap.

It used to be hard to find high capacity microSD at reasonable prices but these days the cards are really cheap and there is no reason not to buy branded goods (Sandisk, Toshiba, Lexar etc) direct from amazon or your local bricks & mortar store.  The people offering too good to be true super cheap deals are all scammers.
