Iriver H120 not recognised when connecting to PC

(1/1)

adama75:
I have a IRiver H120 which I use from time to time. It has boatloader V6 and Rockbox version 3.13 installed.  I had tried connecting it to my PC recently to copy over new mp3 files but it wasn't recognised. I had left it for a while due to being caught up with other things but a few weeks later, I tried again and my PC recognised it and was able to copy over the new mp3 files. However, a few days ago, I tried to copy over more mp3 files but it now not being recognised.

I am running Ubuntu 13.10 kernel version 3.11.0-17 and ran dmesg while connected to Iriver and got the following output:

--- End code ---

I re-installed Windows XP on my PC and when I tried to connect the H120, I got a USB device not recognised error.  I tried searching for drivers with the XP diagnostic program but none could be found.

I've tried the above with the original firmware but got same results.

I though the issue could be with my PC as I had recently installed a graphics card as I had previously used the onboard video card but I connected my H120 to a raspberry Pi which I use as a media player with XBMC but it did not recognise the H120 even though I use a USB hard drive with that device.

It is obvious this is a hardware issue. Is there any way to fix this?

gevaerts:
I'd start by trying a different cable.

adama75:
I've used another cable and have same problem.

I also have a cheap mp3 player which I use when I go out and the cable works with that one so I don't think the issue is cable related.
