iPod mini 2g using remote port with remote A1018

Hi everyone,

first post here, I have an iPod mini 2g that I want to use with this remote: http://images.geeksimages.com/imageshare/A/300x300/A1018-unit.jpg
It's the A1018 and connects to the iPod via the remote port / headphone jack.

I want to enable it because I have my iPod plugged into an amp that sits out of reaching distance from where I sit to work.
I tried to apply this patch: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/10494#comment31971 from 2010 but it just doesn't work anymore.

Can anyone help me out? I have very little experience programming

Already committed as of last spring.  If you're running an older build, update to current and you should get it.

I'm pretty sure I was running the most updated one, I updated anyway and it still won't do anything.
I'll keep on playing around with it / searching the version changes to see if I have to enable anything else (accessory power is currently enabled).

I think I see what's up,

the patch is targeted at ipod color, video, etc, not mini 2g
Any idea on how to make it work with mini 2g?

As I said, this has already been committed.  You already have it if you're running a build from the last 9 months.

Yeah, I see what you say, code for fm remote is definitely there, but still can't get it to work.
I'll see if I can come up with something.

Update to something post-Spring 2013 and see if it works.

weird, I had just updated using RockBox Utility,
in any case I just installed the latest from http://build.rockbox.org/
and still nothing

I highly doubt it's a hardware thing since the remote is brand new (bought it for this sole purpose)

In that case, most likely its just not supported.

That patch was adding additional accessory support for the iPod FM (radio) remote.  It, like all the accessory work ever committed to Rockbox (TTBOMK), is for iPods with the accessory dock, not the short lived serial-port-at-the-headphone-jack.
