auto resume on startup doesn't resume a playlist track (Sansa ClipZip)

bowhat:

Dear all,

Is there is no way to resume playback on a track that was playing in a playlist when the device powers off? It seems to auto resume the playlist on power on, but always on the first track.

My observed behaviour:
I note that when a poweroff/poweron cycle takes place the playlist resumes playback, but on the first track. If I navigate to Recent Bookmarks and select the bookmark it starts the playlist on the correct track.

Of course I can select the start screen to be recent bookmarks and I can manually select it. Is this the best that I can achieve?

Previous thread and reference:
Very similar to this question, possibly even the same question asked (apologies the previous answer did not address the question directly):

My device options & config:
Clip zip running the latest (v3.13). Auto resume on. Start Screen is set to Resume Playback. Bookmarking is on (all four options).

What you're seeing is not normal.

How are you powering off?

Hotcakes:
Not helpful at all, but my ClipZip resumes play at the last playing playlist track, right down to the minutes:seconds it left off at.  So I guess you're experiencing something...  odd.  Mine's a 4GB if that makes a difference...

bowhat:

I wonder if it could be due to the playlist type? Mine is a .m3u playlist file stored on the sdcard. i.e. when I navigate to the "playlist catalogue" at the top menu it is empty.

Alternatively is it due to the music being entirely on the SDCard? I don't use the internal storage at all.

The problem can be recreated no matter how it is powered off.

Hotcakes:
It's not the fact that it's on SDCard, since all my music is, too (32GB SanDisk microSD), though I've been only playing playlists made using the History menu.
