clipzip flashing white screen -- bricked?
« on: February 17, 2014, 05:02:27 PM »
I just installed rockbox to my new Clipzip.  The install went fine.  Familiarized myself with the app for a few minutes, turned the device off, and then charged the clipzip battery for a while via usb.  Next thing I knew, when I disconnected the device from the computer, I have a flashing white screen that says:

Data abort at 00 FSR 0x8 (domain 0, fault address 0x8B0000

I cannot turn the clipzip off, and when I connect it to the computer, it does not get recognized in any way.  I also tried running the install program, but as the computer does not recognize the device, the install program does not either.

What do I do now??  The condition of the clipzip--cannot turn it off to reboot, cannot get it recognized by the computer--seems to create a complete lock-out.

Hold power until the device reboots.

Ok, that worked.  Thanks, saratoga.  But before you color me stupid, I tried that 4 or 5 times before I posted, holding the button for a while, and it did not work.  All I can say is that when I tried it again, in response to the reply to my post, the device rebooted successfully.  Ok, so next time, I count to 60 while holding the button, and only if that fails do I post.
