H300 CF Mod - Is 64GB CF usable?
« on: February 15, 2014, 10:23:25 AM »
Hi all,

I would like to perform CF mod on my H320. The question is, will it work using a 64GB CF? Anyone tried it before?

Thanks!

Not tried the CF mod, but for not much more money, you could get a drop-in replacement SSD:

http://www.amazon.com/KingSpec-1-8-inch-50-pin-Solid-State/dp/B007PFI5HS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1393473260&sr=8-3&keywords=64gb+ssd+ide+1.8

I upgraded my H320 with a 120GB version of this drive and it's great.  It's easier if you have an external case for the HDD/SSD so you can format it and dump Rockbox onto it.

I understand the CF mod will work, but it's kind of a procedure.  The only drawback with the SSD I've had is the original firmware doesn't recognise it.  No problem, since I never use the OF.

I got it working without too much work. There are some good guides. The trickiest part was working out how to flash the modified bootloader..
It only cost me 60nzd all up and is much lighter and faster than the original 40gb.
