Post Installation Sansa Clip+

(1/1)

Bort:
I installed the Rockbox firmware on my new Sansa Clip+ with rockbox utility v1.4. Everything went fine: got the bin firmware the patch occurred with no error, ejected the component safety. On the Sansa, a message stated that the firmware upgrade completed successfully and then it shut down on its own. I started it back up and saw the new Rockbox logo and went through the menu. All is OK. The moment I plugged the unit back into my PC, Win 7 started searching for USB drivers and then popped up a message that it failed to install USB drivers. Immediately afterwards the display on the Sansa shows an image of a USB cable connector and it is now frozen there. Can't even turn it off and the USB is no longer found by the PC.

Did I just brick this thing?

saratoga:
I think the USB driver usually crashes the first time you plug it into a Windows 7 PC:

Hold power to reboot the player and it should work thereafter.

Bort:
Holding the power button did not reboot the player. It was completely frozen. However after an hour I started pressing random buttons on it for about 2 minutes and that caused it to shut down finally. Now its all fine and Win 7 detected it.

Thanks

saratoga:
Probably didn't hold it long enough the first time.

Bort:
It did it again this morning. Left it to charge over night. When I unplugged it this morning the USB image is shown on the unit's screen and nothing I do will wake it up. I have tried for hours holding the power button down anywhere from 2 seconds to 60 seconds. Tried pressing other buttons but nothing. It is locked up. Anything else I could try? Any other combination of keys?
