Sansa Clip+ 2GB, ROCKBOX serious issue, player semi-bricked?
toehser:
I'm confused about where we are - the not enough space message is from the original firmware?
Did you get it mounted as a drive over USB?
Where do we stand on RB and OF boot process?
I would definitely start by trying to get it mounted as a drive, before messing with booting either RB or OF.
From the messages, it looks as though maybe the USB drive issue is with your _windows_ setup...
From which point, various things can be tried, starting by looking at what shows up in the lower-level disks view.
Personally, I'm a Linux user... and when I do use Windows, it is usually XP... on XP, there is "start"=>"settings"=>"control panel"=>"administrative tools"=>"Computer Management"=>"storage"=>"Disk Management" to get to the starting point of what I'm talking about. What do you see there? (in whatever equivalent Win-7 has...) when you are going into USB mode?
You _should_ see that there is a disk, with a FAT filesystem, but not a partition table, and some options for the filesystem, including mounting it / operating on it.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me :-\ I turn on the player with either a LEFT button or HOME button held (while it's being plugged in). As soon as "SANSA" appears on the screen, I disconnect it. Then the same message shows up: "Not enough space for music DB. Please free 90 MB". Any other way to force Clip+ to boot to its original firmware or this was the last resort solution?
How come the file system became corrupted so badly "just like that"?

Because if you ever you use the original firmware, it's going to create a bunch of files and create a database of every mp3 files it finds on the drive. Basically it does a ton of writing to the internal flash drive. If it has a bad FAT, it will completely mess up the whole system at that point. This is why I think the read-only case of the rockbox firmware startup should be improved to go to plug usb cable and actually work properly to do that. (It doesn't for me.)
