Using iTunes playlists with Rockbox on Clip+
(1/1)
rjalex:
Dear friends,
I have iTunes on my Mac OS ((Mavericks) as my library manager (tried several other options but cannot find a better alternative for several reasons).
I usually transfer the music onto my 3.13 rockboxed Sansa Clip+ with an iTunes script called "Export to Album folder" onto a MicroSD 32GB card which is mounted inside the Clip+ and shows as a mounted 32GB Volume to my Mac.
So my music lands on the <microSD> 32GB directory in the Clip+ and when I browse it on both the Clip+ and Mac I see a simple Album/tracks topology. Music plays OK both from Files and from Database. So far so good :-)
I then export the playlist containing those tracks from iTunes and generate a .m3u file which I clean up a bit manually leaving only simple text lines lines such as /Albumname/Trackname.mp3 and store this file in the Playlist directory on the Clip+.
Unmount all Volumes and unplug from USB and try ... the music files are there and play well, the Playlist is there and shows the track names but when I try to play it nothing happens.
Can anyone help me spot my mistake ?
Thanks in advance

/Albumname/Trackname.mp3 refers to a folder named album name in the root of the internal memory, not the sd card. /<microSD1>/Albumname/trackname.mp3 would refer to the sd storage.
Alternatively, if you store the playlist file on the sd card, rockbox will assume you meant /<microsd1>/, I think even if you have the leading '/' for an absolute path.

Thanks so much ! Will try to fix my path mistake when I go back home.
I was under the impression that Rockbox would "see" the playlist only if placed in the Clip+ Playlists folder and not on the MicroSD. Will also double check with that.
Take care.
