How loud is too loud ?

<< < (4/4)

toehser:
Hearing damage varies by frequency.

"Loud enough to hurt your ears" at 70Hz is WAY different from "Loud enough to hurt your ears" at 7000Hz.

You can't just go by decibels, you have to be scared of, for example, modern mastering tendencies that amp the highs...

The source material matters in this case.

And the frequency response of your headphones.

Hi Toehser, the frequency range of sound is usually given as 20 Hz to 20 kHz, the human ear is most sensitive to frequencies around 1,000-3,500 Hz and communication takes place between 200 and 8,000 Hz, so how 7000 Hz can impact that much even its high range at same decibel level than low freq sound? Bass is definetly just as destructive as highs/mids. Highs or mids will hurt straight away, but bass notes tend to take a while to have an effect, pain or nausea and all that stuff. That were my symptoms, I could hear but I have felt my ear just was plugged, and it was uncomfortable. Also it could affect, change in bass and treble settings, accordingly 7 and 6.
Those earphones frequency are 20Hz - 23kHz.
