Weird Symbols in Files menu

After I had emcored and rockboxed my ipod classic 160gb I noticed under my files directory lots of weird symbols.  The symbols were directories but couldnt open them nor delete them.  I managed to delete some of them through the ipod itself but some still wont delete at all.  Its really annoying to have as I have my music directories stored there such as music, chill, trance, and those weird symbol directories.  Any Ideas?

Sounds like filesystem corruption. Run chkdsk or fsck on it.
