clock plugin watch mode

Hello,
I'd like to wear my old sansa clip+ as a watch. Therefore I'm trying to modificate the clock plugin such that the time and date can be read easily when using the clip+ on a wristband (it's rotated by -/+90° then).

The analogue mode was of course easy to adjust.

What I need to do next is to write text rotated by 90°. Is there a simple possibility?
