Select songs in playlist

Hello,

I am new to the whole Rockbox thing, and the system of playlists has been nothing but frustrating until now. What I would very much like to know is how I could easily select different songs to listen to while I am in a certain playlist. I before I always had my whole music directory on shuffle, so it would skip between the different folders, but when I wanted to listen to a specific song I could browse through the directory and select it without interrupting the shuffling between the folders. I found out in Rockbox how to make a playlist of the whole music directory, but if I go to "Files" and select the song there I enter a new playlist for the folder that song is in, and I can do a search in the playlist, but that is alphabetically ordered, and not all my songs are in the same artist - songname format, so that way is extremely convoluted. You can also do a search for the artist or title, but with the tedious putting in of letters that is hardly an efficient way either. There has to be some easy way of selecting a song within a playlist, preferably in a browsing of folders way. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you.

If you want to insert a song into the currently playing playlist, then long hold select on the song to open the context menu, then select insert next* or queue next*  Queue will remove it from the playlist once it has been played, insert will leave it.

* There might be another menu level to select first, I can't remember.

Thank you for your reply. Maybe I was unclear with my question. The problem is not selecting a new song to put in the playlist, but an easy way to browse to different songs while in a playlist. While listening to the songs in my playlist I want to easily find song A that I feel like listening to, without interrupting the playlist. Is there a search method that works with files?

Ah right, so find something somewhere in the current playlist?

In that case I don't think there is a search.
