Problems make'ing the Rockbox UI Simulator
« on: January 03, 2014, 08:13:03 AM »
Hi!  I've been using Rockbox for years on several Sansa C200's & C200v2's.

I'm learning how to run your (excellent) Rockbox development tools, so that I can make some changes.  In particular, I'd like to try to make the midi player into a first-class codec, which has the same menus as the other codecs (e.g., .mp3), and can be sped up or slowed down while running.

In the longer term, I'd also like to investigate whether .mp3's can be sped up _without changing the pitch_, just like VLC can do.

I'm using the Ubuntu image running on VirtualBox, and I've been able to generate both the C200 and the C200v2 binaries.

However, when I try to generate the _simulators_, I get an error during the 'LD rockboxui' phase:

'rockboxlogo.132x40x16.o: Relocations in generic ELF (EM: 40)'
'rockboxlogo.132x40x16.o: could not read symbols: File in wrong format'
'collect2: ld returned 1 exit status'
'make: *** ... Error 1'

Any thoughts on how I should proceed ?

Thx very much.

Try using a different "build" directory for the simulators.  Or maybe a "make clean" in between.

I've noticed that if I've done a regular build, it leaves bits in the wrong architecture...

Rockbox already supports this.

Yes, using a different build directory worked.  Thanks!

Also, thanks re the "Timestretch" capability info.  I hadn't been keeping up with new developments.
