Installing Rock Box on Sansa Clip Zip with 01.01.21A won't work
djfrodo:
O.k. so, I've tried installing this on a mac (both manual and automatic) and a pc (automatic).
Neither worked.
I turn on my clip, switch to MSC, plug it in, start rockbox utility.
Run utility with 01.01.20 as the firmware (it doesn't recognize 01.01.21).
Process finishes and says everything is fine.
Eject, then disconnect player.
"Refreshing Meida" message appears.
The original firmware loads.
What am I doing wrong? Or does rockbox not work for 01.01.21A?
Thanks in advance

90% or so this means that the wrong drive was selected and the installer copied the firmware to a hard disk.
djfrodo:
After running the installer there is a .rockbox folder and a clpza.bin file on the player.
When the player restarts both are deleted.
I think this is a permissions issue, but I'm not sure.
saratoga:
Are you sure you have a clip zip and selected that in the installer? If the patched firmware is on the device, and its really a clip zip it will patch on next boot.

re: Are you sure you have a clip zip and selected that in the installer?
Absolutely. I've tried Auto Detect and selecting the device manually.

That would be awesome, but unfortunately it's not happening.
I'm also selecting the correct drive, in my case /Volumes/SANSA CLIPZ (i'm on a mac).
Could it be the space in the name?
