Since I don't use the Database, I can't step you through what you'd need to do, but I'm sure someone in IRC can help if you get stuck.

Playlists

    Ability to create smart playlists on the fly. Something like songs between 1980 and 1990 by Bruce Springsteen with "People" in the title, or something based on ratings with an added random factor.

I didn't found how create custom search, maybe "custom view" ?...
